Wildflower Studio Artisan Yarns Linda Mehler Hand Dyed Roving

Wildflower Studio is a small, quaint creative studio located at 909 North Graves St. McKinney Texas.

The vision for our studio grew out of my love for fiber. I find it fascinating how sheared lambs, goats, llamas and alpacas can be transformed into such luscious fibers to be used in so many applications.

It was my dream to have a line of roving produced with just the right blend of fibers, and dyed exclusively for Wildflower Studio. While pursuing this dream I was introduced to Ashley Wolfe from Dye2Spin who was excited to work with me on my vision. As we talked she told me about her yarn, and it seemed the perfect match to add it to my studio and on-line store offerings! My vision was not yet complete. I needed an artist to create patterns for the yarn. I was then blessed to find Laurie Beardsley, a talented knitwear designer from Plano. We now carry her patterns, and working with Ashley, she is designing patterns using Dye2Spin yarn. My dream was not yet complete. I have assembled the best Dream Team, and now we are ready to share all our wonderful fibers and classes with you.

Our dream is becoming a reality because of very talented and knowledgeable people: Courtney Overton is my IT person who takes care of designing our fabulous website and on-line store. Diane Johannsen, my right hand, co-teaches with me and keeps me on track. Diane is a very knowledge artist and extremely talented, she is certificate doll sculptor, and is accomplished in many other art forms. She has agreed to share her many talents here at the studio.  Jenni McGrede designs and creates the most adorable Mohair Bears and other creations, and has agreed to bring her talent to the studio! Rachael Batchelor, a talented knitter, crocheter, and sewer, has knitted samples for the studio and also helps me keep up with social media and advertising.  I am so pleased to announce that Jackie Pierce, who is an incredible knitter, is on board to teach beginning knitting, advanced projects, and my favorite, lace. You will love her teaching style.  You can see it takes a village to create my vision. I haven’t stopped there; we are bringing on new teachers all the time. Check out the website often.

Our product line consists of hand dyed artist yarn, hand spun yarn, organic yarn from local farms, patterns, needle felting roving, and supplies. We carry a line of wonderful roving dyed for our spinners, high quality notions for the knitter and crocheter, mohair bears and supplies, kits and patterns and much more.

We are open by appointment only, as we are a working studio with lots of other commitments such as fiber festivals, fiber retreats where I teach, and classes at other stores. We do have a Knit Night on Thursday from 5-9 and would love for you to join us. All our products and classes may be purchased on our online store.

Yarn Crawl Information: This is our first year as a destination stop on the Yarn Crawl; the dream team and I have worked very hard to bring you a fun shopping experience. Laurie and Ashley have put their talents together: Ashley has created a hand dyed yarn for the Crawl and Wildflower Studio called “Rodeo Queen.”  Laurie has designed a fingerless mitt, and shawl to match, using the Rodeo Queen yarn! Laurie has graciously agreed to give away the mitt pattern to all who visit during the Crawl. We have planned hands-on demos, door prizes, goodies bags, a bit to eat and a cold bottle of water to send you on to your next destination.
